Cinco de Mayo is Spanish for the 5th of May and it is a great day of celebration for not only the Mexican community but also for the Mexican-American community.
The celebration stems from a battle on May 5, 1862 in Puebla, Mexico; Mexican soldiers showed tremendous leadership, patriotism and courage when they fought and won over an army of French and Mexican rebels even though the soldiers were greatly outnumbered.
